Their idea of connection entails strict obedience to their ideas and opinions, and if you dare challenge them by respectfully giving your own perspective you are punished.

It is damn near impossible for most folks to love, respect, and value others who are different than them and hold a different perspective and opinion than they do.

This is what makes these intimate connections we desire so damn badly seem impossible: as a human collective we are unwilling to accept people as they are. And it shows in the ways we interact with one another.

This is when the, “You’re wrong!” accusations start flying when there is no such thing as right and wrong. The world is too damn big to be so black and white, plus there is no law in the entire universe that recognizes morals as a constructive method of studying and understanding life. This is also when people try to bombard you with advice and solutions you never asked for, as if the way you live your life and the way you think must be corrected and fixed.

You are not a broken toy. There’s nothing wrong with you. You are simply being analyzed by people through their extremely limited and narrow lens; meaning, they are not intelligent enough to analyze anyone or give them advice. Shit, they aren’t even brave enough to judge their…
