Rethinking Sedentary Relationships: How It Has Become Socially Acceptable To Complain About Big Backs & Bad Knees
Because going from chair, to chair, to yet another chair and calling that shit having fun has resulted in so many dissatisfied women.
If I can be honest, my refusal to lay still for hours at a time in front of a laptop or television all the time isn’t only rooted in finding the pastime incredibly boring. I also despise the social aspect of it. I keep to myself and mind my business because I do not see the purpose of sitting on my ass for hours to watch anything…just to sit on my ass for hours to discuss it with family, friends, and peers, as if this counts as beneficial conversation.
This isn’t to say that all conversations have to be productive. But if I had to choose between picking up my phone to listen to a friend drone on and on about an election or celebrity beef I’m not paying attention to or going outside to get some fresh air and sunshine I am choosing to latter almost every time. Because, why is discussing shows, movies, and celebrity entertainment considered the epitome of socializing?
I mean, if we don’t have much to discuss outside of other people, do we really need as much human connection as we think?
