Sanni’s Shorts: How To Silence The Doubt In Your Head
Run towards a new certainty and create a new level of comfort that wouldn’t have been possible if you gave up.
Do you doubt yourself sometimes? I know I do. Some days I feel invincible and other days I sit still and wonder what the fuck I am doing with myself. I am sure you can relate.
What I have found to be especially helpful is to lean in to listen to the voice you want to hear rather than the voice that wants to keep you comfortable.
Now keep in mind that this latter voice is not bad. It exists to protect you. When you begin to do uncomfortable shit like create new habits and say no to activities and people you used to enjoy it freaks out.
So instead of allowing this doubt to voice its concerns about where you are in life and the progress you think you’re not making, neutralize this interruption by making the voice of your personal truth louder and command more attention.
You do this by continuing to work.
Consistency shows us that the more we use our actions as a testament that we believe in ourselves the quieter that protective voice becomes. Why? Because we are exemplifying that things are coming together. We are inching closer towards reaching the goals we set, or closer to the destination that makes the uncertainty worthwhile.
Until then, you will become uncertain and doubtful sometimes. It’s normal, because these emotions are a part of us that wants to protect us and make us feel safe. Don’t give in to those parts of you that feel weak, shaky, and nervous. Run towards a new certainty and create a new level of comfort that wouldn’t have been possible if you gave up.
Keep going!
