Selfish Fatherhood: Why Some Men Can’t Wait To Abandon Their Families

I have met quite a few single fathers and I love to ask them why they selfishly abandoned their girlfriends to raise a child on her own. It’s hilarious how uncomfortable they get as they try to convince me that they aren’t as self-serving as I know they are.

Women need to understand that men will always leave out any details that paint them and their gender in a bad light. I have yet to hear any of these fathers admit they were completely misguided when it came to their ideas of how a child can improve their lives and relationships with their woman.

That they left because reality was too overbearing and couldn’t match up to the feel-good fantasies of bedtime stories, Father’s Day breakfasts, aquarium visits, and little league sports they drummed up in their minds.

That perhaps a baby is an actual human being, not a disposable prop young men should use to feel grown up and mature. Nor are children always “the next step” in…
