Should You Pay Back Your Parents For Giving You Life In Money?

Your job in being alive is not to clean up the financial messes of your parents with your money, even if you happen to be the financial mess that got them into a hole they couldn’t climb out of!

I have gotten online to declare to readers far and wide that they do not owe their parents anything. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. And I am happy that many people agree with me, especially those who are parents themselves. They understand that their decision to have children was ultimately theirs to make, and so their offspring do not owe them anything as a thank you or token of gratitude for mom and dad giving them life they never asked for.

But this week I saw critics singing a different tune when I encountered a short clip online from a young man who had these words to say:

“I do not want to take care of my mama.

A lot of us young entrepreneurs that grew up in poverty, didn’t come from shit, have this idea that when we get on we taking care of everybody: mama, daddy, granny, brothers, whole family, right?

The problem is that most of our families were actually poor due to shit that was actually in their control: poor money management, lack of discipline, inability to create healthy boundaries, no valuable skill set, or just other bad decisions that
