“So you conveniently tell me this after we had sex, huh? You made sure you got what you wanted and then break the news to me? You didn’t even give me a chance; you just assumed that I wouldn’t like you based on you being a father.”

We met at a small lounge in Brooklyn. It was a Thursday night.

My cousin and I were the life of the party, as we were the only ladies dancing in a room mostly filled with men holding plastic cups of liquor and staring at our moving bodies, probably wishing they had the courage to approach one of us to dance.

I was wining my waist while nursing my drink by our table when a very tall man walked up to me and matched my rhythm. I looked up at his face. He stared into my eyes while he held my hips. He had a dominant presence about him, which I liked.

We ended up dancing together the entire night and got to know each other while we moved in sync to upbeat music.

“Do you have any kids?” I asked.

“Nah. Do you?”

“Nope.”

We exchanged numbers and parted ways early Friday morning when the party was over.

Later in the day he called me and asked me out on a date for the following evening. I said yes, but I wasn’t really interested…
