Story Time: Perhaps I Should’ve Let Her Get Hit By A Car?

I rarely go out of my way to help people nowadays. This is mainly due to how unappreciative people have been when I accommodated them at my own expense in the past. And no, I do not believe it is my human duty to save anyone who doesn’t care about their lives enough to be diligent and take proper precautions when they’re out in public.

It’s a good thing my personal moral compass isn’t based on the Christian belief of constantly turning the other cheek. Jesus has way more patience for humans than I do, and I admire him for that. But I don’t care to be like him in any way. I have learned the hard way that we live in a “It’s every man for himself” type of world and I refuse to be used by those who do not know how to be appreciative. I have no problem allowing people to reap the consequences of their actions.

I have an issue with those individuals who deliberately choose to not say thank you. This two-word sentence is free to say and doesn’t rob the user out of anything, but it also serves as a sign of appreciation and respect.

So you can imagine how irritated I was when I literally saved a woman from being hit by a car and she had the audacity to catch an attitude with me. The incident happened on a Friday. She got the opportunity to spend one more weekend alive because of me.
