The Blunt Truth: Mothers, The Village Begins With You
“Plan your future accordingly; don’t just get raw-dogged, cross your fingers, and hope that your man stays in the picture or that your sister, best friend, or parents will step in to help you.”
This morning I came across a reel that had me a little upset. In the short clip a concerned mother claimed she was worried about her son being taken advantage of by women. But then she realized she had a daughter who can protect her son. In the photos of her two children her daughter definitely appears to be more self-assured and aggressive in nature while her son seems to be a sweet, sensitive soul who can stand to learn a few boundaries.
I should add that this young man should be learning how to say no and mean it from his own mother or another trusted adult in his life, instead of mom requiring his sister to conveniently fight his battles. This young lady has her own life. She is not always going to be there for him. And I think we can all agree that the right time to learn how to protect ourselves from the harshness of this world is when we are at home under the safety nest of our parents, not when we are forced to confront reality.
