Many women are desperately trying to build a foundation that starts with them, something they should have done before the man and kids.

Too many women have it in their minds that a man loving them is the final stage of womanhood plus the end-all-be-all of healing, as if having a husband is enough to soothe the anger of a mother abandoning them in childhood or the sadness of a father passing away too soon. If a man loves a woman and stays with her, in her mind she is someone special and worth being envious of.

What I am witnessing right this very moment is how this lie is being dismantled in the lives of many women who are now at the back of the line and starting over from scratch, desperately trying to build a foundation that starts with them; something they should have done before the man and kids came along.

Lately I’ve noticed how so many of my friends and other ladies I’ve followed for years are now divorcees after many years of dodging their internal problems and basking in the societal glory of being a wife and mother. I can tell that every single one of these ladies are in an existential crisis of sorts, and they are trying to figure out who they are for themselves, not for others and certainly not for men.
