The Hypergamous Wives Are Right: Work Is For Men.
“What is your dream job?”
“I don’t dream of labor.”
“Work is for men.”
I first came across this statement in the hypergamous wife groups years ago, and the message resonated with me. Of course women work jobs and some of them are very fulfilled in their positions, but in my case I am not built for the daily commute and grind. “Work is for men” definitely applies to me.
One of the best things I’ve done for myself was step out of the 9–5 matrix and promise myself to never get a job again. From the age of 18 I knew working for anyone well into my 60s was not going to happen. And once the pandemic hit I saw my perfect opportunity to jump ship for good.
I stopped crossing my fingers and hoping that there was a perfect job out there for me. My last job was almost perfect and I still am not moved to work at anyone’s place of business. Just like I have dated loving men and I still choose to be single, I had a great job and I prefer to work for myself.
