The Loner Chronicles: Things My Extrovert Friends Do That Drive Me Crazy
“Newsflash: My free time is not your play time.”
I am a textbook loner and introvert. So much so that my body shifts out of homeostasis once I leave the comfort of my home to interact with the public. I literally get a small cold that lasts about 1–2 days most times that I am forced to step outside. Sharing the air with other humans does not sit well with me or my immune system.
It is true that introverts are adopted by our friendly, chatty counterparts, also known as the extroverts. It seems like the grocery store, post office, bar, shopping mall, park, or any public vicinity functions as adoption centers for hermits like me to be chosen by the outgoing individual.
Now I do love my sociable friends even though I don’t always show it. Us introverts need breaks from living in our own bubble from time to time. When you spend a lot of time by yourself you tend to forget that the real world still exists. Friends are put in our lives to remind us that there is life beyond our four bedroom walls. I hate to admit it but my companions are doing me a favor by intercepting my life on a regular basis, even if they’re doing it to tell me shit I don’t care about.
