The Pitfalls Of Mismanaged Excess
We eat, shop, drink, and enjoy other things to excess because we hate the feeling of being bored, sad, and emotionally empty.
Excess doesn’t just exist when it comes to a compulsion to shop for clothes and shoes we know we would not wear just to fit in with the crowd or fill in the emptiness we feel inside. Excess also applies to any and everything else: eating, working, exercising, drinking, sex, and more. Activities that are healthy and can elevate our lives and bring us pleasure can be detrimental when done in excess.
Many of us don’t graze on food all day because we are hungry. We don’t shop because we need new clothes. We eat, shop, drink, and enjoy other things to excess because we hate the feeling of being bored, sad, and emotionally empty.
So what is the easiest way to manage excess? Well it begins with accepting that creation will always support excess because this is the way we humans actualize the spark of life within our souls. There will always be an abundance of shoes, clothes, makeup, bags, and opportunities to overindulge. Capitalism is not evil, materialism is not evil, nor is overconsumption evil either.
