The Real Reason Why Dark-Skinned Black Women Are Mean As Hell To Each Other

Women who do not love themselves can never love you. They cannot make good friends, because they are their own worst enemy.

I had the audacity to walk, move, and act against the codes of dark-skinned black womanhood, which dictated that we must never hold our heads up high because we were to fawn over and be obsessed with lighter hued women, but never fawn over and be obsessed with ourselves. I had low self-esteem for decades, but my bougie mother taught me to always walk and talk eloquently and to dress well.

In other words, I reminded them of who they weren’t, and probably who they wanted to be. That’s why they worked so hard to chip away at my confidence, even though I didn’t even view myself as highly as these girls did! Sadly, any dark skinned black woman or young girl who carries herself like the queen or princess she is meets this fate.

Being humble to a fault couldn’t save my ass from getting emotionally torn apart all the time. I had something these ladies wanted, and that was the audacity to hold my head high and appear as if I loved the dark skin I was in. As a culture black people, and human beings in general, like relativity. Anything that is familiar is comfortable and feels safe to them. They view anything that’s different as a threat, hence the…
