Unconditional Love Does Not Mean Unconditional Tolerance? Yes The Fuck It Does!
I came across yet another ridiculous ass post on Facebook, most likely written by another hopeless romantic. It reads as follows:
“Unconditional love does not mean unconditional tolerance. Unlearn that.”
Do people even understand the meaning of words anymore? Unconditional love and unconditional tolerance definitely correlate. Why? The opposite of unconditional is conditional, which means your love is conditional if you do not accept that which is unconditional. Am I missing something here?
If someone does anything which causes you to take back your love and walk away from them then your love was not unconditional. It was in fact conditional. The problem is that as a society we are taught to cherish unconditional love when it is actually quite idiotic to love anyone with no conditions.
I think it is very sad how grown adults do not understand the string of basic words they say to their children, family, partners, and friends on a regular basis!
For example, do you know what you’re saying when you tell someone, “I love you no matter what?” Most of us have uttered this famous line to someone at least once, but what does “no matter what” mean exactly?
