One evening a guy I was seeing stopped by my apartment. He brought me food he cooked himself and a few small gifts. We ate dinner together and afterwards retreated to my sofa where we cuddled, sipped liquor, and talked.

We didn’t have sex, however he ended up spending the night by my place. While he was laying down in my bed I was up cleaning my apartment. There’s something about nighttime that makes me want to deep clean everything.

The next day we spoke on the phone. While I was chatting away he remained quiet, as if something was on his mind. After some coaxing he finally blurted out in anger that he was used to women entertaining him in their homes.

I took a deep breath, as I had to check him real quick. “Sir, you do not pay not one bill in my house. I am not obligated to entertain you in my house. You want entertainment that badly? Take me out somewhere!”

He was upset, of course. But he understood. He never brought it up again.
