Unpopular Opinion: I Am That Enabling Friend!
“Over the years I’ve discovered that friendship consists of lonely women venting to me about either men or children. That’s it! Can you understand why I want to live as a hermit for the rest of my natural life?”
I was listening to a playlist and Ariana Grande’s hit single Side to Side came on. While I love the song’s beat and the music video is cute, it made me reflect on the manipulative games some women play in their friendships.
The song talks about Ariana secretly keeping a man in her life even though her friends try to persuade her to leave his ass alone. In the past I’ve been there and done that. I’ve wasted many precious hours of my life on the phone with friends who wanted me to convince them that they should block some guy’s number and move on, only for them to keep running back to that dusty ass man over and over again.
I will never forget the time when an ex friend of mine, an annoying, needy, super sensitive woman, admitted to me that she never felt better after talking to me about her problems. Her problems all stemmed from men she could easily leave, so her make-believe issues weren’t worth me concerning myself over.
So to that I say good! It isn’t my job to make you feel better about the silly decisions you love making. If I can be honest, I don’t care if this makes me a bad…
