Unpopular Opinion: Men Feel Rejected By Women They Aren’t Attracted To

“Can I say something to you? Thank you for dressing nice. These women out here look busted.”

I was on my way to work when a man around my age walked up under my black umbrella to let me know that he appreciated my efforts to look presentable…for him.

Never mind the fact that I am not looking for a man, nor am I particularly concerned with how I am perceived in the public eye to men or women alike. I present myself a certain way because I take pride in my personal appearance, not because I am fishing for compliments from men who don’t even take the time to iron their jeans and clean their sneakers with dirt caked on the soles. That is how the man who claimed that women look busted approached me.

The sheer audacity, I tell you!

Many men believe that a woman is only attractive, in shape, wearing flattering clothing, or behaving in a way that is considered to be widely appealing simply because she needs to be validated by her gender counterpart. Never mind the fact that this may be her personal standard, regardless if she is looking for a man or not.
