What I Learned About Men (And Myself) From Having An Online Dating Profile Up For Five Days
Five fucking days. That’s all it took for me to decide that enough was enough. I deleted my account and never created an online dating profile again.
I was disgusted.
But why did I create one in the first place?
Pandemic boredom.
I came across a YouTube video where a woman was explaining how so many ladies were finding success with online dating. She even attested to the charm of the internet, as she found her husband of 10+ years on eHarmony. Needless to say, I was impressed. As a single woman who had some free time on her hands due to the lockdown orders in the tri-state area, I decided to try my luck on the world wide web.
Now I don’t remember what indie dating site I used, but it wasn’t an online giant like eHarmony, OkCupid, or Bumble. I specifically signed up on a niche site because it was a platform catering to interracial dating. And I am down with the swirl.
“Ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony…”
Every time I hear this song I am reminded of Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air singing it by himself with much gusto and passion. That scene always cracks me up.
