When Romance And Self-Harm Go Together Like Peanut Butter And Jelly!
Really and truly, why is it your right to experience romance at your worst?!
Really and truly, why is it your right to experience romance at your worst?! Are we done with bettering ourselves to receive the best that life has to offer, and anything or anyone will do because love allows us to justify quitting on ourselves?
Relationships for most individuals are echo chambers where self-harm is largely overlooked, probably because using the guise of true love to harm yourself, harm your partner, as well as harm any children that result is widely accepted. As a society, we have a slew of mental health conditions and eating disorders to give to those who take an active interest in working on themselves. However, we don’t bat an eye when someone demands to be coddled and spoiled by someone else and rename this abuse romance.
In fact, we go around proclaiming that everyone deserves love and there is someone for everybody. And yes, everyone includes the rapist. The pedophile. The drug dealer. The mentally disturbed. The delinquent. Whoever and whatever. Apparently everyone deserves to be loved at their worst. We especially romanticize women giving every damn body a chance and putting themselves in harm’s way in the process.
