Let’s be honest: there is no real requirement for any woman to endure the mental, physical, and emotional abuse that comes with this role for 18 years.

I woke up this afternoon after a tiring yet successful overnight session lifting weights, and with sleep still in my eyes I decided to open Facebook to read something, anything to force me awake.

But I was not prepared for the very first status update I saw as soon as I tapped on the app.

I follow a gorgeous woman who has always prided herself on loving herself enough to craft a fun, stress-free lifestyle where she enjoys being a housewife to a successful husband and mother of two teenagers. While the housewife life isn’t for me I have always enjoyed her content and her loving messages to women about choosing certain types of men who want to make their lives easier and more pleasurable like she did.

But pictures do not always tell the whole story. Because the first status update I read came from her, with the mother declaring that one of her children no longer lives with her. They now live with their father, or her ex-husband, on a permanent basis because that’s what they wanted. And she seems very pleased with the lifestyle change, because according to her motherhood was very exhausting with this child.
