Everyone and their mama has an opinion on how you should move about life once you are successful, and their plans for you always have to do with remaining meek, even when you are proud of yourself and have a lot going for you. Here’s a brilliant idea: do whatever the fuck you want! This is your life and show, and the miserable critics are just bystanders whose opinions don’t mean shit!
Is it just me, or is this obsession with women being quiet and humble simply nauseating?
Why is it that when a woman is feeling herself she must immediately be humbled? Just why? Why must a woman be punished for making others uncomfortable with her boldness? Why are everyone’s insecurities and their disbelief in themselves any woman’s problem?!
This compulsion to humble women who dare to love themselves fiercely without permission is rooted in religion, which promotes male worship. Men are allowed to be great. Men are allowed to be condescending, intimidating, confident, and to not give a damn about anything that has nothing to do with them.
