I never trusted any man to take the lead in our relationship. I was never a go-with-the-flow type of woman. Most, if not all, of my exes would never describe me as submissive. And it took me a while to really embrace my need to always function as a woman with her own mind, even when I was with a man who wanted to make my worries go away.

Oddly enough, I always had something to worry about; mainly because most of my previous partners were predatory in nature. This animalistic desire to take whatever one needs whenever they want it and do whatever it takes to get it was why I couldn’t wholly relax and let go with these men. And what’s worse was how my partners believed I actually trusted them because I had sex with them; the same sexual intimacy they lied and coerced me out of.
